The Qur’an gives a clear command not to lie, through direct prohibition (“avoid false speech”) and commands to speak truth, making lying categorically forbidden (ḥarām).Lying / fabricating (16:105) False speech (22:30) Mixing truth with falsehood (2:42) Speak truth (33:70) Stay with truthful people (9:119)

| 16:105 | إِنَّمَا يَفْتَرِى ٱلْكَذِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَ | Only those fabricate lies who do not believe in the signs of Allah, and they are the liars. | جھوٹ وہی لوگ گھڑتے ہیں جو اللہ کی آیات پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے، اور وہی جھوٹے ہیں | Solo inventan mentiras quienes no creen en los signos de Allah; ellos son los mentirosos |
| 22:30 | فَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلرِّجْسَ مِنَ ٱلْأَوْثَٰنِ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ قَوْلَ ٱلزُّورِ | So avoid the filth of idols and avoid false speech. | پس بتوں کی گندگی سے بچو اور جھوٹی بات سے بھی بچو | Eviten la impureza de los ídolos y eviten las palabras falsas |
| 24:7 | وَٱلْخَٰمِسَةُ أَنَّ لَعْنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ | And the fifth oath will be that the curse of Allah be upon him if he is among the liars. | اور پانچویں بار یہ کہے کہ اگر وہ جھوٹوں میں سے ہے تو اس پر اللہ کی لعنت ہو | Y la quinta vez será que la maldición de Allah sea sobre él si es de los mentirosos |
| 24:8 | وَيَدْرَؤُا۟ عَنْهَا ٱلْعَذَابَ أَن تَشْهَدَ أَرْبَعَ شَهَٰدَٰتٍۢ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ | And it will avert punishment from her if she testifies… that he is surely among the liars. | اور اس سے عذاب ٹل جائے گا اگر وہ چار بار گواہی دے کہ وہ یقیناً جھوٹوں میں سے ہے | Y evitará el castigo si ella testifica… que él es de los mentirosos |
| 33:70 | يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًۭا سَدِيدًۭا | O you who believe! Fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice (truth). | اے ایمان والو! اللہ سے ڈرو اور سیدھی بات کہو | ¡Oh creyentes! Teman a Allah y digan palabras correctas |
| 2:42 | وَلَا تَلْبِسُوا۟ ٱلْحَقَّ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوا۟ ٱلْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ | Do not mix truth with falsehood or conceal the truth knowingly. | حق کو باطل کے ساتھ نہ ملاؤ اور نہ حق کو چھپاؤ جبکہ تم جانتے ہو | No mezclen la verdad con la falsedad ni oculten la verdad a sabiendas |
| 3:71 | يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ | O People of the Book! Why do you mix truth with falsehood and conceal the truth knowingly? | اے اہلِ کتاب! تم حق کو باطل کے ساتھ کیوں ملاتے ہو اور حق کو چھپاتے ہو | ¡Gente del Libro! ¿Por qué mezclan la verdad con la falsedad y ocultan la verdad? |
| 9:119 | يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ | O you who believe! Fear Allah and be with the truthful. | اے ایمان والو! اللہ سے ڈرو اور سچوں کے ساتھ ہو جاؤ | ¡Oh creyentes! Teman a Allah y estén con los veraces |
| 39:3 | … إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ كَٰذِبٌۭ كَفَّارٌۭ | Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a liar and disbeliever. | بے شک اللہ اس کو ہدایت نہیں دیتا جو جھوٹا اور ناشکرا ہو | Allah no guía a quien es mentiroso e incrédulo |
| 40:28 | … إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌۭ كَذَّابٌۭ | Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar. | بے شک اللہ اس کو ہدایت نہیں دیتا جو حد سے بڑھنے والا اور جھوٹا ہو | Allah no guía a quien es transgresor y mentiroso |
